CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Tennessee Department of Transportation is inching closer to building the Highway 374-based loop around Clarksville, and the next step is public comment on the route.
TDOT will host a Virtual Design Public Meeting from Nov. 8 to Nov. 29 to gather public input on the project, which will connect state Highway 149 at River Road to US Highway 76/Dover Road, according to a Montgomery County news release.

The multi-lane highway will extend 374 by approximately 7.2 miles. Improvements are also proposed for 149 from River Road to about 1,700 feet west of Cumberland Heights Road, approximately 1 mile.

“We encourage residents to provide their input on this project and definitely want to see it come to fruition,” said Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett. “It has been on our request list to TDOT for many years, and gathering input is a step in the process. The more participation we have, the more TDOT may see how important it is to the citizens of Montgomery County.”
Comments submitted through the project website will be addressed and become part of the official public transcript. Individual appointments can also be scheduled with TDOT staff to discuss the project and its potential impacts. Persons wishing to schedule a meeting should contact:
