Mr. Huel Atkins, age 86 of Dover, TN was called home to be with the Lord Thursday, August 26, 2021. He was born September 13, 1935, the son of the late Shannon and Hettie Atkins.
Huel loved the Lord, a faithful servant, and attended Wyatts Chapel United Methodist Church and Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his family horseback riding and camping. He was a big sports fan, enjoying watching grandchildren playing various sports with the Stewart County Rebels, and was a big Dallas Cowboys fan. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and loyal friend to many. He retired after over 40 years at the Trane Company. Huel proudly served his country in the United States Army.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over 60 years, Ann Allen Atkins, son; Mickey Atkins, daughters; Suzanne Howell (Danny), Brenda Pinkowsky, grandchildren; Rachel Grasty (Seth), Ryan Pinkowsky, Sydney Spencer (Johnathan), Mitchell Howell (Emily), Daniel Howell (Chelsea), Taylor Howell, Sara Howell, Ashlee Howell, Tiffany Risinger, Jessica Milliken (Dustin), Shannon Atkins, Denver CO, great-grandchildren; Thomas Abbott, Delono Grasty, Andi Jean Milliken, Hayden Howell, Gavin Howell, and Ava Howell.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 28, 2021, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Anglin Funeral Home. Visitation will resume Sunday, August 29, 2021, at 12 p.m. and continue until the hour of the funeral service at 2 p.m. at Anglin Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Paul Edwards, Bro. Ryne Lee and Bro. Melvin Dunaway officiating the service. Burial will follow at the Atkins Cemetery, 1615 Old Hwy 79, Dover, TN. Those serving as pallbearers are Tim Dunaway, Mitchell Howell, Daniel Howell, Seth Grasty, Johnathan Spencer, Monte Forman, Jeffrey Allen, and Dustin Milliken. Honorary pallbearer is Jeremy Waters and Edward Milliken.
