James Virle Harris, age 73 of Clarksville, passed away on July 2, 2021, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born on June 23, 1948 in Clarksville to Furman and Sallie Addcox Harris. James was a veteran of the United States Army and retired after over 45 years from Trane.
He enjoyed fishing, playing and watching basketball and was a UT fan. He loved volunteering for disaster relief efforts with the Southern Baptist Association and teaching Sunday School at Pleasant View Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his sisters, Emily Suiter and Frances Couch and brothers, Sidney Harris and Joe Harris. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirley Harris; children, Michelle (Jeff) Davis and Matt (Karona) Harris; grandchildren, Dillon, Cadie, Riley, Macey, Hayvn and Kyler; sister, Betty Couch, and many friends and church family.
A celebration of life service will be Wednesday, July 7 at 12 p.m. at Pleasant View Baptist Church. Pastors Jerry Jeter, Michael Osborne and Matt Harris will officiate. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the hour of service at the church.
