James Tyson, age 89 of Dover, Tenn., went to be with the Lord June 27, 2021 at his residence.

He was born March 8, 1932, the son of the late Governor Noel and Mary Bessie Tyson. James proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War and was also a carpenter and farmer. James served as a faithful servant and member of Dunbar Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Indian Mound, Tenn.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his devoted wife, Ocie Milliken Tyson; beloved son, Greg Tyson; brothers, Frank, Kenny and Earl Tyson and sisters, Betty Keel and Mary Jane Schmitt.

He is survived by his loving children, Kim Crutcher (Joey) and Richard Tyson (Lezlie); daughter-in-law, Donna Tyson; brother, Billy Tyson; sisters, Earline Atkins and Barbara Ann Tyson, both of St. Louis Mo.; grandchildren, Charity Harville, Blake Tyson, Megan Crutcher and Joshua Crutcher and great-grandchildren, Evan Harville, Mason Harville and Cayden Harville.

Visitation will be Friday, July 2 from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Anglin Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Indian Mound with Richard Tyson and Blake Tyson officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
