Update, 5:30 p.m.: The blaze destroyed eight apartments, and eight families have been displaced, which affects between 18 and 20 people, according to Montgomery County Emergency Management Director Ed Baggett.
Baggett added that an actual count of those displaced is not available because one family is on vacation.
Firefighters will be on site for several hours hitting hot spots and monitoring the situation.

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Fire broke out an an apartment complex on Mayhew Road Saturday afternoon.
At about 1:49 p.m., the fire was reported at Cumberland Chateau Apartments, 140 Mayhew Road. Mayhew is along the south bank of the river in Montgomery County near the Highway 48/13 bridge.
One of the buildings was fully engulfed at 2:30 p.m., according to Montgomery County Emergency Management Agency Director Ed Baggett.
All residents have been evacuated with no injuries. The Red Cross is on the scene to provide aid to displaced residents, according to a county alert.
Clarksville Fire Rescue sent Tower 1 to provide aerial support in fighting the fire, according to Assistant Fire Chief Michael Rios. Some off-duty CFR firefighters also responded to help.
The public is advised to avoid the area as emergency crews respond.
