Aaron Grier, Jr., age 74 of Clarksville, passed away Monday, June 14, 2021.
He was born May 30, 1947 in Locust Grove, Ga. to the late Aaron Grier, Sr. and Ada McDaniel. He was a U.S. Army veteran who enlisted during the Vietnam War. As a child, Aaron was affectionately known as “June”, and he attended Shoal Creek Baptist Church. He also studied at Carver Vocational School in Atlanta, where he learned the trades of Tailoring and Dry Cleaning.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Sook Cha Edwards Grier; brothers: James Clifford Grier, Willie Elmer (Gwenola) Grier; sisters: Shirley (Walter) Grier Parker, Charlotte (Charles) Grier Wise and grandson, Cedric Hutchison II.
Aaron is survived by his brother, Pastor Arthur (Grace) Grier; son, James Grier; step-son, Roosevelt (Tori) Edwards, Jr.; daughters, Latrice Grier and Semethia Grier; step-daughters: Patricia (Cedric Sr.) Hutchison, Shirley (Derrick) Brown, Beverly (Marcus) Floyd; grandchildren: Ashley (Tristan) Thomas, Shannon Hutchison, Kevin Anderson, Aerica Floyd, Savannah Floyd, Roosevelt Z. Edwards, NeLayna Edwards, Angelica Young, Demetrios Ponder, C’Yerra Roberts and great-grandchildren: Autumn Floyd, Laila Betts, Roman Sherrill, Ava Thomas, Tristan Thomas, Jr., Eric Young, Evan Young and E’Mani Young.
A celebration of life service will be held Monday, June 21, at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, June 20, from 3 to 4 p.m., and Monday, June 21, from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
