CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Northwest girls basketball defeated Springfield 70-26 Friday at home to wrap up the regular-season District 10-AAA crown.
The Lady Vikings outscored the Lady Yellow Jackets 25-4 in the second quarter to take complete control of the game early on.
Ta’Mia Scott led the Lady Vikings with 17 points followed by Kayla Howell with 16 points.
Northwest will go on the road next to take on Henry County Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 6 p.m.
Northwest boys lose lead late to Springfield
Northwest boys basketball faltered down the stretch Friday at Springfield, falling 53-48 in a back-and-forth affair.
The game was tightly contested throughout, until the Yellow Jackets rode an 8-0 run late in the fourth quarter to go back in front for good.
Northwest travels to take on District 10-AAA leader Henry County Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 7:30 p.m.
Clarksville Academy boys fall flat in regular-season finale
Clarksville Academy boys basketball lost 61-40 Friday at home against Goodpasture in the their final game of the regular season.
CA was able to keep it close in the first half before a late second-quarter run by Goodpasture became the beginning of the end for the home team.
Lady Cougars dealt first district loss of season
Clarksville Academy girls basketball dropped their first district game of the season 43-40 to Goodpasture Friday at home.
The Lady Cougars were unable to get shots to fall early on and trailed 23-14 at the break.
CA later had a chance to tie the score on the final possession of regulation, but the comeback fell short.
Despite the loss, Clarksville Academy still finishes the regular season as the Division II-A District 4 champion.
Diamond Bryant had a team-high 12 points while Atyia Moss added seven points for the Lady Cougars.
Henry County outlasts Kenwood boys in triple overtime thriller
Kenwood boys basketball went toe-to-toe with the top team in District 10-AAA Friday on the road.
The Knights battled until the final buzzer sounded, but eventually fell 83-80.
With the win, the Patriots wrap up their first regular-season district title since 1998.
Kemari McItosh put up 11 points in the first quarter to help Kenwood build a 16-11 lead early on before finishing with a team-high 24 points. Jaylen Washington also poured in 21 points for the Knights.
Kenwood travels to West Creek Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 7:30 p.m. for a meeting with the Coyotes.
Lady Knights outmatched by Lady Patriots
Kenwood girls basketball struggled out of the gate Friday at home, falling to Henry County 52-21.
The Lady Knights were unable to muster much offense against the tough Lady Patriot defense.
Kenwood will look to get back on track Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 6 p.m. at West Creek.
Rossview boys pick up victory in dominant fashion
Rossview boys basketball cruised to a 75-38 victory Friday at Montgomery Central.
Cam Ward finished with 14 points for the Hawks.
Rossview is currently looking for a replacement game before hosting Springfield Friday, Feb. 12, at 7:30 p.m. in a district contest.
Montgomery Central has two tough contests to end the regular season, beginning on the road at Springfield Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 7:30 p.m.
Lady Hawks rebound in win over Lady Indians
Rossview girls basketball earned a 43-11 win Friday at Montgomery Central.
Sydney-James Desroches scored 11 points for the Lady Hawks.
As of now, Rossview’s next game is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 12, at 6 p.m. at home against Springfield.
Montgomery Central will head to Springfield Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 6 p.m.
Lady Coyotes take down Lady Eagles
West Creek girls basketball held on to defeat Northeast Friday 43-36 on the road.
The Lady Coyotes’ 15-point third quarter helped propel them to victory.
Adryanna Smith finished with 16 points while Krysonie Mitchell added 12 points and 17 rebounds for the Lady Eagles.
Northeast looks to regain some momentum before the district tournament starts when they hit the road for a matchup with Clarksville Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 6 p.m.
West Creek will host Kenwood Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 6 p.m.
