A Celebration of Life service for TSgt Robert Elmer Gooch, Air Force (Ret), age 92 of Clarksville, will be Thursday, January 21, 2021, at 12:00 p.m. at Sykes Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and again on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. A Masonic service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday night following visitation.
Robert passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021, at Tennova Healthcare. He was born on November 29, 1928, in Oakville, KY to Thomas and Pauline Gooch. Robert was retired from the United States Air Force and was a WWII veteran. He later retired from Civil Service where he received the Department of Army Commander’s Award for Civilian Service. Robert was a 33rd degree Grand High Priest Royal Arch Mason of Masonic Lodge #89 in Clarksville and involved in the Clarksville Scottish Rite Club. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, loved his dog Brownie and cheering on the Tennessee Titans.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene Gooch and Ralph Gooch. Robert is survived by his wife of 70 years, Wanda Gooch; children: Thomas (Sherry) Gooch, Donna (Brian) Folk, and Gail (John) Donahue; sisters, DAnn Preske and Maryellen Bentley; and grandchildren: Angela Gooch, Heather Gooch, and Daniel Hosse.
