CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – From hoarding and meth labs to COVID-19 outbreaks, someone has to handle the cleanup, and in Clarksville, that often falls to Spaulding Decon.
“We do crime scene cleanups, we do suicide cleanup, any unattended death cleanups, any accidental death, or any biohazard that occurs in a home, a residential or commercial building,” said Clarksville owner Gabe Chrismon, who described the business as a biohazard and restoration company.
Since they began in 2005, Chrismon said viral disinfection is done with every cleanup, and now with the pandemic, the company has been doing COVID-19 disinfections on a daily basis.
They have worked in assisted living facilities when a positive case is found, as well as in day cares and restaurants. The company is used when a positive case of COVID is found so a business can be quickly and professionally disinfected.
Chrismon said they also do a large number of hoarding cleanups, which he said affects more people than many realize. The work can last anywhere from a couple of hours to several days, depending on the severity of the situation.
Chrismon said 5 percent of the population has a hoarding disorder, and Spaulding Decon works closely with the National Association of Professional Organizers who work with hoarders to help them end the practice after cleanup.
Spaulding Decon also handles drug lab decontamination. If a home, rental property or business is found to be contaminated by drugs, particularly methamphetamine, the procedure involves thorough testing.
Samples from the location are sent to the company’s lab, and if meth is found, there is a complete decontamination of the site.
With 24/7 service, Spaulding Decon also offers both water restoration and mold mediation.
Spaulding Decon in Clarksville and Nashville are new members of the Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce, with a ribbon cutting last week. When called upon, they have traveled throughout Tennessee, and they are on-call for emergency services.
