CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville High football knocked off Munford for the second consecutive year in the opening round of the Class 5A Playoffs Friday by a final score of 16-14.
The Wildcats got on the board first with six minutes left in the opening quarter on a made field goal.
In the second quarter, sophomore running back Jamar Carnell scored from three yards out to put Clarksville up 9-0.
After a Cougars’ turnover, Carnell found pay dirt for the second time in the first half to extend the Wildcats’ lead to 16-0.
Munford was able to cut the lead in half before the break and trailed 16-8.
With three minutes remaining in the third quarter, the Cougars put together a 90-yard scoring drive to pull within two points.
Clarksville’s defense pitched a shutout in the fourth quarter and held on to a 16-14 victory.
Clarksville (5-4) will take on Northeast (6-2) at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13 in the second round of the Class 5A Playoffs.

Rossview fails to contain Oakland’s high-powered offense
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Rossview football faced off against Oakland Friday on the road in the first round of the Class 6A Playoffs.
The undefeated Patriots proved to be too much for the Hawks to handle, as Oakland cruised to a 49-0 shutout win.
The Hawks battled early and only trailed by one possession at the end of the first quarter.
A pick-six by Theron Gaines and a Jordan James touchdown put the Patriots up 21-0 at halftime.
Rossview couldn’t contain Oakland’s high-powered offense and as a result, had its season ended by the Patriots.
