CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville’s Office of Housing & Community Development is inviting non-profit organizations to apply for special Community Development Block Grants (CDBGs) that aim to help offset some of the COVID-19 impacts.
Eligible organizations must be registered with the Internal Revenue Service as a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt, charitable organization. They also must attend a virtual teleconference and then submit an application to the Clarksville Office of Housing & Community Development.
Money for the grants comes from the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) through allocation of supplemental CDBG Coronavirus (CDBG-CV) funds. Along with non-profits, the grants also go towards public health, emergency response, or temporary housing facilities that have been impacted by COVID-19.
Because of the pandemic, Clarksville is proposing an amendment to its CDBG Annual Action Plan. This will allow Housing & Community Development to apply for and use $1.4 million in new grants for eligible COVID-19 related needs.
CDBG grants normally fund local public services and small business assistance programs.
