When Holli Dearden was a child, her late father, John, helped a homeless man who came to the family’s front door. John worked diligently to help the homeless man, even giving him his own clothing and helping him find shelter.
Dearden, now the program manager at Brookdale Senior Living Solutions of Clarksville, grew up inspired by her father’s acts of kindness and his heart for those in need. She is professionally and personally committed to serving others and implemented Socktober.
As winter approaches, the Brookdale family has kicked off Socktober, an event held in October to provide essentials for local homeless men, women and children.
Brookdale Clarksville accepts donation of hats, scarves, gloves and socks. These are given to Clarksville’s Salvation Army Center of Hope, which serves the local homeless population.
“We hope the Clarksville community trusts our Brookdale Family to passionately advocate for those in need and partners with us in our commitment to help not only seniors, but our community live better,” Dearden said.
Individuals and organizations can donate new winter gear of various sizes for men, women and children until Oct. 31 at Brookdale Clarksville-Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care, located at 2183 Memorial Drive, Clarksville, TN 37043.
Large red containers labeled Socktober are at their front and side doors for drop-off convenience.
Brookdale’s mission is to “enrich the lives of those we serve with compassion, respect, excellence and integrity.”
