CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Montgomery County is likely to get 2 to 4 inches of rain out of Hurricane Delta when it marches up from the south this weekend. But the question is, will it hit us early or late Saturday?

The hurricane is expected to make landfall at about 1 p.m. Friday in Louisiana, then track northeast directly toward Middle Tennessee, according to National Hurricane Center projections on Wednesday morning.

The National Hurricane Center projection for Delta as of Wednesday morning.

“The potential for heavy rain and flash flooding will increase across portions of the central Gulf Coast, Tennessee Valley and southeastern United States as Delta moves inland later this week,” the NHC advisory said.

But that impact might not hit Clarksville until Saturday night. The next few days will provide a clearer picture of its possible impact on our area.

“At this time we’re still not sure what’s going to happen, but it looks like Saturday and Sunday are going to be on the rainy side. Depending on the track we could see anywhere from 2 to 4 inches, but severe weather is not looking favorable,” said Meteorologist Faith Borden with the National Weather Service office in Nashville.
