Update, 7 p.m.: Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Clarksville, moving east at 30 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

NWS issued a Significant Weather Advisory for northeastern Montgomery County northwest Robertson County through 7:30 p.m.

Wind gusts up to 50 mph are possible with this storm. Locations impacted include Clarksville and Adams.

This includes Interstate 24 between mile markers 1 and 11.

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The National Weather Service has issued a Significant Weather Advisory for northwestern Montgomery County and Stewart Counties until 7 p.m.

At 6:17 p.m., Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Dover, moving northeast at 35 mph, according to the advisory.

Winds in excess of 30 mph will be possible with this storm, NWS said.

Locations impacted include Dover, Clarksville, Big Rock, Cumberland City, Land Between The Lakes, Indian Mound and Woodlawn.

“Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways,” NWS said.

“Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.”
