CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – More than 14,000 Clarksville-Montgomery County School System students were scheduled to log on and start their first half-day of school from the comfort of their homes on Monday, Aug. 31.

As CMCSS’s K-12 Virtual Program, created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, began its first day, working through technology kinks was a frustrating obstacle for some.

“Due to the volume of calls on the first day of school, there may be longer wait times for both the Live Assist and Help Line,” said Anthony Johnson, CMCSS spokesman. “Our teams are working as quickly as possible to resolve technology issues. This page contains information on some of the most common issues and solutions.”

Families were contacted on Wednesday, Aug. 26, about technical support and troubleshooting issues surrounding student laptops.

K-12 Virtual and students in need of technical support can access the online support page by clicking here.

Anyone who doesn’t have access to the internet or a computer can call the Help Line at 931-920-7779.

Attendance

CMCSS K-12 Virtual students who are still experiencing connection issues, and have a work order submitted, will not be considered absent. Any technical issues, including waiting on technology to arrive or having update errors, connection troubles, or login issues are not going to count against the student.

CMCSS K-12 Virtual students who have not yet received a laptop will be notified by the student’s enrolled school as soon as it is ready to be picked up.

“We thank parents and guardians for their grace, patience, and partnership as we work through these issues,” Johnson said.

Required updates

If your CMCSS K-12 Virtual School student was issued a laptop last year and kept that laptop over the summer, they will need to have updates installed prior to the first day of school.  This will allow connectivity to the CMCSS network and access to required online resources. This process takes only a few minutes, but must be done while near a CMCSS school building to ensure the computer can connect to the school’s network.
