CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – One of the oldest apartment buildings in Clarksville caught fire Wednesday morning, but there was little damage.

At about 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, Clarksville Fire Rescue was on the scene at 305 Main St., near First Presbyterian Church downtown. Station 1 companies including Engines 4 and 5, Rescue 1 and 3 as well as the Deputy Chief and Fire Chief responded to the incident.

The fire was contained to one room, and firefighters were able to rescue a renter’s pet canary, according to officials at the scene.
