HOPKINSVILLE, Ky (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The inaugural Visual Arts camp presented by smARTS (Students Meeting the Arts) program of the Pennyroyal Arts Council will be held June 15-19 on stage at the Alhambra Theatre. Those interested are invited to register now to ensure your child’s place in this fun-filled and educational ‘Fine Arts’ camp.

The one-week, summer day camp for children, seven to 12 years of age, will offer a morning (9am-Noon) and afternoon (1-4:00 pm) session.

“The Arts Council is excited to be able to offer this hand-on arts experience and looks forward to the creativity that will be produced during this week,” Molly Campbell, Arts Education Coordinator for the Pennyroyal Arts Council said.

The session being offered this summer focuses on recycling. Campers will experience the Arts by studying different techniques and work with a variety of arts, styles, and mediums.

Paula Gieske, a mural and portrait artist, who teaches Visual Arts at Christian County High School will instruct the camp. She was honored as High School Teacher of the Year in 2014 by the Kentucky Art Education Association and has won numerous art awards for portrait drawings, paintings, and photography.

Enrollment is limited to 15 students per session to provide quality instruction and to ensure social distancing guidelines.

Applications will be received on a first-come, first serve basis. If the session is full, your child can be placed on a waiting list. Registration for the one-week camp is $150. Fees include the instructor’s rate and basic art supplies for the week’s activities. A limited number of scholarships are available.
