CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, many people are taking the advice of officials to shelter at home, but there are still essential workers who must be out and many of those families are in need of help in the way of childcare.

Giving Tree Child Care Center is open and answering the call for families that need help. Owner Amy Traylor said Giving Tree caters to children ages six weeks to 12 years and all of their teachers are licensed in CPR and first aid.

The Giving Tree is waving their registration fee and their activity fee with a flat rate of $40 a day.  There is also a discount rate if someone chooses to drop in for a week.  They are asking that there is an end date and a start date on the contract.

“We, right now, can take up to 40 more school agers, we have the space. We can take up to 10 Pre-K students as of today. They can pay the daily rate or the weekly tuition rate without having to pay the registration or activity fee,” Traylor said.

Traylor said they are taking safety precautions by offering a concierge service for pick up and drop off.  “We are allowing a few parents in the building, just the lobby at a time.  We have our staff members going down and collecting the children for the families with their items to be sent home,” Traylor said.

Traylor added that when they are closed, each weekend they are doing a fog cleaning that not only kills all airborne germs and viruses, but especially the coronavirus.  Also, on the weekend, a cleaning crew comes in and wipes everything down.

Along with those safety precautions Traylor said when the Giving Tree was built 10 years ago a Daikin heating and cooling system was installed and those units specialize in eliminating 90 percent of airborne germs and allergens.

Giving Tree serves a hot breakfast along,  a hot lunch, and a snack, and they are open Monday-Friday, 6 a.m. – 6 p.m. at 3216 Hwy. 41-A South.
