CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The investigation of a shooting on Peacher Mills Road where three people were shot is still being investigated.

Police responded to a shooting in progress around 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28. When officers arrived, they found a man and woman outside of a home in the 900 block of Peachers Mill who had sustained gunshot wounds.

Officers were given a description of a Ford Taurus which fled the scene of the shooting.  Officers flooded the area and the vehicle was quickly located in the front yard of a Leigh Court residence, according to a news release from Jim Knoll, spokesman for Clarksville Police Department.

The investigation has revealed the male in his late 20s, in a Ford Taurus, pulled into the driveway of the Peachers Mill Rd residence. There were a man and woman, both in their 30s, standing outside of the vehicle interacting with the man in the Taurus.  At some point, a gunfire exchange took place and the Taurus was quickly backed out of the driveway and fled from the scene.  Witnesses helped officers track down and locate the Taurus on Leigh Ct.  The man in his 20s did not live at the Leigh Ct residence and was found in the backyard of a Leigh Ct residence.

A perimeter was set up shutting down Peachers Mill Road between Carter and Pine Mountain Road as well as the area surrounding Leigh Court.

CPD’s Tactical Team and Crisis Negotiators were called out and  Montgomery County deputies worked in conjunction with CPD maintaining the perimeter and traffic control on Peachers Mill Road which was blocked off for about six hours.

During the search, the man was found in the backyard of a residence at Leigh Court and detained.

“The finer details are still being determined,” Knoll said. “Police have all individuals involved in the confrontation and are not looking for anyone else.”

The three individuals that were shot were transported to the hospital.  The man and woman from Peachers Mill were treated and released.

The 20-year-old remains hospitalized with a non-life threatening injury and is in stable condition.

There were other vehicles struck by gunfire from the shots fired at Peachers Mill Road but no other person was injured.

“We would also like to express our thanks to the witnesses that came forward to provide officers information, enabling us to locate a vehicle that fled the scene quickly,” Knoll said.
