HOPKINSVILLE, KY. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – In celebration of its first full year in operation, Hopkinsville’s Jennie Stuart Sportsplex invites the public to join them for a special celebration.
“Planters Bank-Jennie Stuart Health Sportsplex Hopkinsville is fired up to be celebrating its one-year anniversary, so it’s hosting an appropriate exhibition to correlate with the milestone event,” said Hopkinsville marketing & events coordinator Chris Jung.
The Sportsplex, which officially opened its doors Jan. 9, 2019, is holding the Battle of the Brigades, a friendly kickball game between the Hopkinsville Fire and Fort Campbell Fire Departments. The brigades will be led respectively by Steve Futrell (Hopkinsville Fire Chief) and Robert Coonce (Fort Campbell Fire Chief).
The Battle of the Brigades will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 9.

The game is expected to last approximately an hour and will take place on BryMak Field, which serves as the Sportsplex’s state-of-the-art synthetic turf surface.
Admission to the game is $1, with all proceeds going to the Pennyrile Children’s Advocacy Center. The Game Day Café concession stand will be open for business, and guests will be treated to free desserts.
“We can think of no better way to celebrate this exciting anniversary than to put our facility to use, put some of our tremendous first-responders on display, eat some cake and raise money for a tremendous local charity,” said Jung. “We’d love to see a big crowd turn out to join in the fun.”
