CLARKSVILLE, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW)  – The wet weather has forced two community events to postpone their opening night festivities for Tuesday, November 26. Christmas on the Cumberland and the Downtown Commons Winter Ice Rink have been cancelled this evening.

While the Christmas on the Cumberland opening event will not be rescheduled, the public will still be able to enjoy the lights starting on Wednesday, November 27, 2019.

Christmas on the Cumberland, Clarksville’s popular lighted walk-through event, will be open nightly from 5-10 p.m., Sunday through Thursday and 5-11 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays through Jan. 1, 2020. Admission is free.

Family-friendly activities will take place from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 14 and 21. This year’s free activities include free hot chocolate, holiday crafts, and performances by local dance groups.

New this year, we’ve partnered with Fleet Feet Clarksville to provide a whole new way to experience the dazzling lights at the first-ever Christmas on the Cumberland Light Run, Saturday, Dec. 14 at McGregor Park. All proceeds will go towards the purchase of new Christmas on the Cumberland light displays!

Registrants can choose to participate in either the one-mile event ($10) or the 5K ($20) beginning at 4 p.m. Online registration can be completed by visiting www.ClarksvilleParksRec.com. In-person registration is from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday at the Parks & Recreation Office, 102 Public Square, Downtown Clarksville. Registration closes Wednesday, Dec. 11.

Christmas on the Cumberland is presented by the City of Clarksville.
