CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW)- A fire on Teal Drive has displaced a family from their home and investigators have linked it to a candle being used after a post-storm power outage.

On, Saturday, on October 26, 2019, at 8:35 p.m. Battalion 3 fire crews from stations 7,10, and 11 were dispatched to 3556 Teal Dr. for a house fire. The homeowner woke up to the sound of smoke alarms, called 9-1-1 and advised them that her house is on fire.

She was the only one at home at the time and was outside of the house. They quickly started putting water on the fire. Additional units were called to the scene.

Chief Montgomery, Deputy Chief Williams, and Fire Marshal Cumberland responded to the scene.

The power was out in the area and the homeowner had candles lit in the house for light. The candles were believed to be extinguished before bed. The fire is under investigation at this time.

No injuries were reported at the scene. The family is displaced from their home, The American Red Cross was called to assist.
