CINCINNATI, Ohio (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Austin Peay State University soccer traveled to Cincinnati Saturday to take on the Bearcats, as senior Governor goalkeeper Mary Parker Powell recorded her second shutout in her past three starts in the Govs 0-0 double-overtime draw at Gettler Stadium.
After receiving Ohio Valley Conference Goalkeeper of the Week honors for her performance last week, Powell was stellar in net yet again, making four saves to blank the Bearcats and earn her 11th career shutout.
The Governors were also led by the reigning OVC Defensive Player of the Week and senior captain Renee Semaan who helped anchor the Govs defense for 110 minutes.
Morgan Drawdy paced Austin Peay on offense with two shots on goal while Ashley Whittaker an Anna McPhie added one shot each for the Govs.
The Governors will take the pitch at Morgan Brothers Soccer Field this week for two home OVC matches. The Govs will host Southeast Missouri at 7 p.m. Friday night match and UT Martin at 1 p.m. Sunday.
