CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Beginning Sept. 19 the ā9/11 Never Forget Mobile Exhibitā, including artifacts from the World Trade Center and free guided tours by NYC firefighters, will be featured at Beachaven Winery as part of the Welcome Home Veterans Celebration.
The tours, free to the public, are conducted by firefighters who were eyewitnesses to history and can share their perspective on what happened that fateful day and thereafter. Tour times can be scheduled in advance on eventbrite.com by searching Welcome Home Veterans Celebration. Tours will take place from 3-7pm on Thursday, Sept. 19 and Friday, Sept. 20; 11amā7pm on Saturday, Sept. 21 and 10amā3pm on Sunday, Sept. 22.

In its mission to ensure that Americans never forget what occurred on Sept. 11, 2001, The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation created the ā9/11 Never Forget Mobile Exhibitā to vividly bring the events of that day to Americans who are unable to travel to New York City. Sykes Funeral Home is the official sponsor of the memorial while it is in Clarksville.
The foundation, originally established in memory of a fallen 9/11 firefighter, believes this is especially important as we get farther and farther from the original occurrence and more of the public was either not born or very young when it occurred.
As part of the 5th Annual Welcome Home Veterans Celebration, this exhibit brings a different memorial to the usual veteran theme – honoring our first responders and remembering those lost on that fateful day.

āWe are proud to again be part of this tremendous event in Clarksville,ā said Sykes Funeral Home Owner, Stewart Sykes. āIt is for veterans, but itās also for the community. Itās a time to learn about our nationās history, to show support and appreciation for those who have served, and to come together to celebrate our freedoms.ā
To ensure that Americans never forget, and that those who were young or not born before 9/11, learn what happened that day, the ā9/11 Never Forget Mobile Exhibitā features everything from World Trade Center steel and aluminum faƧade from the buildings to audio tapes of the firefighters discussing what they will need to conquer the fire. Also on site for visitors to see are items that were found in the rubble after the buildings collapsed – everything from the panel of a fire truck to a golf ball.
