Fort Campbell, Ky (CLARKSVILLENOW) – It was a great way to start off the week for 199 soldiers as they were reunited with family, friends, and comrades at Fort Campbell on Monday, September 9, after serving a nine-month deployment to Iraq and Syria.
The soldiers, with the 1st Brigade Combat Team (Bastogne), of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), were part of Operation Inherent Resolve.
“Been away for a while, been away from the family,” said Major Scott Fisher, who was welcomed back by his wife and two children. “It’s just an amazing feeling to see these kids and how much they’ve grown over the last nine-months and see my beautiful wife, and be back with my absolutely loving family. It’s just a wonderful feeling.”
Another flight of 1st Brigade soldiers is scheduled to return Wednesday morning.
