FORT CAMPBELL, Ky (CLARKSVILLENOW) – AARP has partnered with Visit Clarksville and Fort Campbell Army Base to host a special Welcome Home event for Vietnam veterans. On Thursday, September 19, at 1:30 p.m. the general public and military personnel are welcome to attend a ceremony paying respect to this special group of veterans.
Join AARP, Ft. Campbell officers, local officials and Visit Clarksville as the community honors those veterans who served our country in Vietnam.
“This is our chance to offer our Veterans a long overdue welcome home,” said Stacy Pennington, AARP Tennessee Associate State Director, Outreach. “If you or a loved one is a Vietnam Veteran, we want to honor you at this special event.”
A military ceremony will be followed by refreshments.
The event is free and open to the public, however all attendees must register in advance. Registration closes September 15.
The event will be held at Hanger 3 on Fort Campbell Army Base on Thursday, September 19 beginning at 3:00pm.
Visitors must enter through the Visitor Center at either Gate 4 or Gate 7. Allow up to two hours to access the base and be in place for the ceremony. Early time arrival is needed to process through security and drive to Hanger 3 once on Base.
All registrants will receive further information close to the event.
