CLARKSVILLE, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW) – State Senator Bill Powers surprised the Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County with a $1,000 donation on Saturday, August 24. The contribution is part of Power’s commitment to donate his monthly take-home pay as a state senator to worthy nonprofit organizations in Montgomery, Houston and Stewart Counties.

“Nonprofit organizations keep our community strong by providing needed services without asking for much in return,” said Powers. “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to donate to such a worthy organization as the Montgomery County Humane Society. As an animal lover, I appreciate their work. The lives of many animals and people have been changed as a result of this organization, and I am happy to offer my support.”

The Human Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County facilitates adoptions for hundreds of homeless animals and provides a low cost spay and neuter clinic to reduce animal overpopulation.

Senator Powers encourages constituents to reach out to his office if they know of nonprofit organizations in Montgomery, Houston or Stewart Counties that would benefit from such donations. Senator Powers can be reached at sen.bill.powers@capitol.tn.gov or (615) 741-2374.
