CLARKSVILLE, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Clarksville Police Department has issued an update on the man who bailed out of a white BMW on I-24 Sunday, August 4.
With the help of another law enforcement agency, CPD has confirmed that the suspect in question is James Pitts, 19, who is supposedly from Hickman County, Tenn.
Law enforcement pursued Pitts, who was driving a stolen BMW, through Illinois and Kentucky. The car came to a stop near exit 1, and Pitts fled on foot, running westward.
CPD does not currently have any charges on Pitts, though he does have a Violation of Probation warrant on file in Hickman County. Reports indicate that Kentucky State Police are pursuing additional felony charges against Pitts, and that Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the crash that occurred in Clarksville.
James Pitts is roughly 5′ 7″, 130 lbs and has hazel eyes. It is possible that his hair contains highlights.
Pitts is still at large, and residents are encouraged to be vigilant. CPD urges anyone that sees Pitts to call 911 immediately.
