CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The fourth annual Hummingbird and Butterfly Festival will take place at Dunbar Cave State Park on August 17 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. This free event provides an educational day outdoors for children of all ages.
Families and community members can enjoy a host of different activities throughout the day.
Families can enjoy arts and crafts all day, along with the Pollinator Pal challenge. Children and their parents will complete an observational scavenger hunt of sorts in order to receive their Pollinator Pal badge.
The Clarksville Garden Club will be on hand from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. to discuss native plants and give gardening tips.
Those interested in observing the hummingbird ‘banding’ can arrive at 8:00 a.m. to observe the process. Hummingbird Banding Demonstrations will take place from 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and again from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. The banding demonstrations are conducted by the Southeastern Avian Research (SEAR) under the ‘green tent’.
Special programs run at various times through the day including Primary Pollinators in Your Yard, How to Attract Butterflies, and special talks on Monarchs and Butterflies.
Parking is limited at the park but a shuttle will be available at Dunbar Cave Baptist Church. The festival will be held rain or shine.
