CLARKSVILLE, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Tennessee Titans Left Tackle Taylor Lewan faces a four-game suspension in the upcoming season for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.

Lewan released a video on Twitter explaining the situation. In it, he states that he tested positive for ostarine, a banned substance, and has been given a four-game suspension. He goes on to say he has never knowingly taken ostarine, offering a tearful apology to his fans and teammates.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter has reported that Lewan’s A sample tested positive this summer, but that the results of his B sample have yet to come back. Until that happens, the four-game suspension is not set in stone.

Lewan became the highest paid offensive lineman in the NFL last season when he signed a five-year, $80 million deal that included $50 million guaranteed.  His suspension could greatly impact the Titan’s playoff chances as they face young, talented defensive lines in the season’s opening weeks. The Titans will travel to Cleveland, Jacksonville and Atlanta in weeks 1-4, their only home game being against Indianapolis in week 2.

Lewan plans to appeal the decision by the NFL. He has also promised to release polygraph results supporting his innocence. Titans open training camp begins on Saturday, July 27.
