CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – More hot dogs are eaten in July than any other month of the year, with over 150 million hot dogs being eaten each Independence Day. It is for this reason that July is National Hot dog month.

This year, National Hot Dog Day falls on Wednesday, July 17. Here are a few of our favorite places in Clarksville to grab a dog and celebrate.

Chicago Gyros

Chicago Gyros and More is located on Madison Street in front of Lowes. While the menu is largely Greek inspired, they are also known for their hot dogs. Their Chicago Style Dog comes loaded down with mustard, relish, onion, sports peppers, pickle, a slice of tomato and celery salt on a poppy seed bun. They are a perfect companion for the seasoned fries.

Chi-town Hot Dogs

Chi-town Hot Dogs is a mom-and-pop shop located on Riverside Drive next to Big Lots. Owners Dan and Donna Johnson have been in business for many years and are known for their love of the community.

The menu features a full array of toppings for Italian beef and chili-style hot dogs. They also offer chili tamales, Frito casseroles and a pickle-on-a-stick. For those in a hurry, Chi-town also has a drive-thru.

Top Flight Hot Dogs

Top Flight Hot Dogs is located on Fort Campbell Boulevard in Oak Grove. They have only been in business for two years but boast impressive food. They have a variety of different sausages and toppings, as well as a family friendly atmosphere. It may be a further drive for some, but it is worth the effort
