CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A man entered a Fort Campbell Blvd business on July 1 and attempted to shoplift several items. The suspect, Darius McNeal, 34, then threatened the store employee when they approached him about the items.
The incident occurred around 4:45 pm. According to police reports, when the clerk approached McNeal about the stolen items, he put his hand in his coveralls inferring he had a weapon. A gun was never actually displayed.
McNeal left the business in a gold van which was quickly spotted by an officer. He fled from officers in the vehicle when a traffic stop was attempted. Detective Koski then secured warrants for his arrest.
Darius McNeal, was taken into custody in Erin, TN on July 2. He was transported to the Montgomery County Jail and charged with Aggravated Robbery and Evading Arrest. McNeal had two outstanding warrants for Criminal Trespass and Theft of Property. His bond is set at $41,500.
According to police, McNeal has a lengthy criminal history involving theft, drugs, and resisting arrest.
