CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) The National Weather Service (NWS) in Nashville confirmed Thursday that an EF0 tornado touched down along Ryes Chapel Road in southern Montgomery County during Wednesday’s storms.
A NWS storm survey team said the tornado touched down around 6:10 p.m. blowing down a few trees, a carport and some roofs lost shingles. Meteorologist Brittney Whitehead said the twister traveled along Ryes Chapel Rd. and lifted up near Watkins Ford Rd.
“It was only on the ground for about 1.2 miles and we estimated it to be about 300 yards wide. The winds were estimated to be around 80 mph at its strongest point,” said Whitehead. She added that EF0 tornadoes have about 65-85 mph winds.
