Clarksville, Tenn –   Lanier Lawn and Landscaping made a donation to the City of Clarksville today, in an effort to replace the trees destroyed by vandals late last month. Two new trees, have been planted in front of the underground parking garage off Franklin Street in Historic Downtown Clarksville.

On April 27, surveillance video caught vandals destroying several trees around 1:45 a.m. on Franklin Street near North Second Street. One tree was damaged as the man appeared to use the tree to pole dance. The other was damaged by the same suspect’s vehicle.

Chris Lanier, owner of Lanier Lawn and Landscaping in Clarksville, first heard about the incident and knew he had to do something after seeing the comments and interactions across social media.

“I saw an opportunity to do something right for the community. We’re donating the trees and labor, there’s no cost to the taxpayer. We’re happy about all of the progress the city and county have made together, glad to be a part of it,” Lanier said Friday.

The two trees and labor are estimated over $2,000.

Police are still trying trying to identify the suspects seen in the video. Anyone with information can contact Detective Wimmer at 931-648-0656 ext. 5527, the Tipsline at 931-645-8477, or submit a tip anonymously at P3tips.com/591.
