SAN ANTONIO, Tx. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Green Beret Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Brent Cooper as Executive Director, effective June 3, 2019.
A former Green Beret with the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Brent brings to the table both a passion for service and the business acumen necessary to carry the Foundation’s mission forward into the future.
Now in its 10th year, the Foundation is dedicated to supporting soldiers of the U.S. Army Special Forces and their families. Since inception, the foundation has invested more than $12 million, assisting more than 4,000 families.
“This is a vital organization with a critical mission, and I am profoundly honored to have been selected to lead the Green Beret Foundation,” said Cooper. “We are committed to moving forward, and in addition to maintaining and growing our core programs, we are excited to develop innovative strategies to expand the impact of our cause. Our mission has always been, and always will be, to serve Green Berets and their families.”
Brent joins the Foundation with over 18 years of experience serving in high-level civilian business leadership roles in operational and strategic planning, business development, full life-cycle recruiting and sales, and program management. He also holds a BBA with honors from the American Military University, and an Executive MBA from the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington.
In the midst of that career, at the age of 30, Brent enlisted in the Army to fulfill a lifelong desire to serve his country. After serving as a Communications Sergeant with the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Brent rejoined the civilian workforce as Director of Operations at Windermere Property Management, a reputable property management company based in Seattle, Washington.
“Over the past several months, the Foundation has undertaken an extensive search for its next Executive Director,” said Major General (Ret.) Simeon G. Trombitas, Chairman of the Board of Directors. “During this time, we had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with dozens of outstanding candidates and were both thrilled and humbled by the depth of passion for our mission expressed by all those interviewed. We are very excited to announce that Brent will be taking the helm to join our team and continue expanding our mission of helping Special Forces soldiers and their families.”
Cooper will be relocating to San Antonio, TX in May of 2019 with his wife, Shelley, and their 3-year old daughter, Dominique.
