Story by Bethany Kelly
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Girl Scout cookie season is almost upon us and the girls are getting prepared.
Girl Scouts of all ages came together on December 18 at the National Guard Armory to kick off the cookie season. The high energy, activity packed cookie rally prepared girls to be successful in the Cooke Program. Girls learned goal setting through hands on activities such as making cookie message ribbons, goal necklaces and cookie message clips.
Through the Girl Scout cookie program, many girls will take part in adventures they normally would not be able to. Troops have goals from traveling to Savannah to visit the Girl Scout Birthplace, going to the Chattanooga Aquarium or registering for a week of Girl Scout summer camp. The Girl Scout cookie program provides these girls with the funds so that they are able to participate in the program or trip of their choosing with little or no financial cost to the family. Girls also sampled cookies, learned about marketing, worked on their presentation skills and much more.
Girl Scouts will begin taking pre-orders on January 1, 2014. For the twelfth year, Girl Scout Cookies are$3.50 a box. Look for your favorite Girl Scout cookies to be available at participating booth sale locations all across middle Tennessee starting February 9, 2014.
