CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with Leadership Clarksville, will host a political forum this week for the candidates running for the TN District 22 State Senate seat recently vacated by Mark Green.
The forum will be broadcast on Facebook live by the Chamber on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 1:30 p.m.
Candidates will have an opportunity to answer questions and give their stance on important issues.
Last month the Montgomery County Commission appointed Rosalind Kurita to temporarily fill the seat until a special election is held.
On March 7, special primaries will be held for both political parties and a general election will take place April 23, according to Montgomery County Administrator of Elections Elizabeth Black.
Seven candidates have qualified for the 2019 Special Called Primary and Election. Candidates include Republicans Betty Burchett, Jeff Burkhart, Jason Knight, Bill Powers and Democrat Juanita Charles whose names will appear on the March 7 Primary ballot, with Independent candidates Doyle Clark and David Cutting only appearing on the April 23 General Election ballot.
The District 22 State Senate seat represents constituents in Montgomery, Houston, and Stewart counties.
