CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A fire broke out at Ashford Place Apartments (2190 Memorial Drive) in Clarksville Tuesday afternoon.

Flames could still be seen from the road as of 3 p.m. The fire has been contained as of 3:45 p.m.

Deputy Fire Chief Ray Williams said the fire started in Building E and no one was injured.

According to Lt. Koyama with the Clarksville Police Department, the Red Cross is on the scene to help those affected by the fire. He said approximately 20 families (up to 120 people) will be displaced.

The Crow Recreation Center at 211 Richview Road has been temporarily closed to the public to serve as a shelter for the families. The coldest weather of the season is expected overnight.
