CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A burst boiler pipe caused extensive water damage at the Historic Montgomery County Courthouse in downtown Clarksville Sunday morning.

Michelle Newell, spokesperson for the county, said officials were made aware of the incident around 11:05 a.m.
A boiler pipe burst on the third floor of the courthouse, which caused significant water damage in the building.

The total damage is currently being assessed.

“The public will be notified of any changes to public meetings, including tomorrow evening’s informal County commission meeting, as soon as leadership has been advised on the condition of the building,” Newell said in a statement. “We apologize for any inconvenience this unforeseen incident may cause and will keep the public informed of the situation.”
