The Community Action Agency has funding available through the Low-Income Home Energy Program (LIHEAP) to assist qualifying households with a credit towards their electric bill to offset rising costs this winter. LIHEAP is a federally funded grant program which Community Action Agency receives to assist the community.

Funding is still available through December 28, 2018 and will begin again January 2, 2019.

You have two opportunities to care for your family and take the burden off affording rising utility costs. Apply now and again beginning January 2019. Approved applicants could receive up to a $600 credit directly to their CDE, CEMC or propane account. Regular LIHEAP should be viewed as a preventative assistance, this is not an emergency assistance solution.

Applicants must meet income eligibility. To see if you, or someone you know, qualifies call 931-896-1800.

Applications should be submitted before the bill is due or becomes past due. Regular LIHEAP can take up to 30 days to receive. In the event of an emergency, Crisis LIHEAP provides immediate assistance for past due bills, however funding is more limited and has stricter eligibility requirements than regular LIHEAP.

Don’t let your family, or someone you know, suffer this winter. Contact the local office today at 931-896-1800. Applications and qualifications are also on CAA website and Facebook page.
