CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office raised $4,742 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital during the No Shave November Campaign.

No Shave November is a non-profit organization devoted to growing cancer awareness and raising funds to support cancer prevention, research, and education.

Deputies were able to participate in No Shave November by making a $30 donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Deputies forgo shaving for a month to open conversation and grow awareness by embracing their hair, which many cancer patients lose. Money normally spent on grooming products for the month is donated to cancer research.

Clarksville Now sponsored a Best Beard Contest so readers could cast their votes for the best beard. Captain Jesse Reynolds took home top honors.

This year’s winner was awarded a men’s grooming package donated by Stromin’ Norman’s Barbershop.

“We are very excited that we were able to raise fifteen percent more this year than the previous year,” said Sheriff John Fuson. “We will continue to challenge ourselves and find new ways to increase our donations St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.”

Sheriff Fuson and Captain Reynolds presented a check to Jackie Proffit with St. Jude’s for $4,742.
