HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) arrested a Clarksville man Wednesday after a pursuit ended in a crash on Fort Campbell Blvd.
A KSP sergeant saw a red Chevy Camaro speeding southbound on 41A outside of Hopkinsville Oct. 17 around 5:30 p.m. When the sergeant turned on his emergency lights the driver accelerated and turned onto the Martin Luther King bypass.
The pursuit continued until the driver was turning onto Fort Campbell Blvd. and hit a 2006 Nissan Altima, driven by Whitley Grace, of Pembroke. Grace was later transferred to Jennie Stuart Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
After the crash, the Camaro driver fled on foot. Sergeant Jeff Ayres was able to apprehend the suspect and take him into custody without further incident.
The driver was identified as Kevin Gilmore, age 29, of Clarksville, Tennessee.
Kevin Gilmore was arrested and booked into the Christian County Detention Center where he was charged with the following:
1. Tampering with Physical Evidence
2. Criminal Mischief 1st Degree, 2 counts
3. Operating on Suspended or Revoked Driver’s License
4. Failure of Non-owner to Maintain Insurance
5. Leaving the Scene of an Accident- Failure to Render Aid or Assistance
6. Speeding 26 MPH or Over
7. Reckless Driving
8. Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree,2 counts
9. Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree- Police Officer
10. Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree (Motor Vehicle)
11. Fleeing or Evading Police 2nd Degree (On Foot)
12. Trafficking in Controlled substance 1st Degree, 2nd Offense or Greater, Greater than or Equal to 4 grams Cocaine
13. Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense, Heroin
14. Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
