CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville police nabbed a robbery suspect within 20 minutes of the crime that occurred Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the suspect walked into Cash Express (989 S. Riverside Drive) with a double barreled shotgun and demanded money. He then fled the scene with a large amount of money stuffed in his pants.

At approximately 5:17 p.m., an officer on patrol saw a man running from the area while carrying a shotgun and getting into a maroon SUV. Shortly after that, radio traffic from dispatch alerted officers to the robbery that had just occurred at Cash Express. The man the officer saw matched the description of the suspect, but he fled the scene quickly.

Another officer saw the suspect’s vehicle and stopped him at 5:33 p.m. The suspect, identified as 42-year-old Bobby Joe Young Jr., led officers to an apartment on Baltimore Drive where they found the shotgun with two rounds under a couch in the living room.

Police said Young has several previous felony convictions. He was booked into the Montgomery County Jail and charged with aggravated robbery, convicted felon going armed, driving on a suspended license, and resisting arrest. His bond was set at $137,500.
