CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Officials will hold a dedication ceremony Thursday, September 13 for the Gold Star Families Memorial Highway.

The event will be held at RichEllen Park, located at 1466 Highway 149, at 11:00 a.m.

“The Tennessee General Assembly approved this measure in the recently concluded session, and I am grateful to Charles and Annette Tinnin who brought this idea to the Montgomery County delegation,” State Representative Joe Pitts said. “The contributions and sacrifices of our Gold Star Families to the defense of our nation are worthy of recognition and commemoration.”

The public is invited to attend the event.

The legislation reads as follows:

(a)’Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, the segment of State Route 149 within Montgomery County, from the intersection of such route with State Route 48/13 to the Montgomery County – Stewart County boundary is hereby designated “The Gold Star Families Memorial Highway” to honor the families of the courageous men and women who have lost their lives in service to this country so that the people of this country may enjoy the many bounties of democracy.
