GREENBRIER, Tenn. (WKRN) – The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened Friday afternoon in Greenbrier.
It happened in the parking lot of an abandoned grocery store located in the 2500 block of Highway 41.
According to a release, Greenbrier officers were in the middle of an undercover drug operation when a person of their efforts attempted to flee from the area in a car, striking an undercover officer.
One of the officers then fired his service weapon into the subject’s vehicle at least once, striking the man.
The man, whose identity has not been released, was taken to a local hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
A Greenbrier officer is also undergoing medical treatment for exposure to a substance that is believed to be heroin. The officer who was struck is also being evaluated.
The investigation is ongoing.
