CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) A Clarksville teen recently took first place at 2018 Junior World Skeet Championship in San Antonio, Texas.

Sheaffer Stanfill is the youngest registered shooter in the world to achieve AAA status in all gun gauges at the age of 14. Only approximately 1% of shooters will achieve AAA status.

Sheaffer began shooting competitively with the Tennessee Scholastic Clay Target Program. He won his first world title at the age of 11 with the NSSA, claiming the Sub Junior Gun Championship for 28-gauge event at the 2015 Junior World Championship in San Antonio, Texas.

In 2016, Sheaffer won the Men’s Tennessee State Skeet Gun Championship title for the 28-gauge event, setting the record for Tennessee as the youngest men’s gun champ. Additionally, since 2016, Sheaffer has earned three top spots with the NSSA by being named to the first team of the Kreighoff Sub Junior All American team.

Sheaffer said one of his personal goals for the future includes being the youngest person to shoot a 400×400 in a registered competition. This year, he came very close, shooting a 399/400 and claiming the title of the Western Open Champion in Stockton, California. He is the youngest competitor ever to win this championship.
