CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The suspect accused of stealing a man’s vehicle and running him over with it has been arrested in Robertson County.
According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), 20-year-old Jonathan Trent Rippie of Springfield was taken into custody in Robertson County on July 19 on unrelated aggravated burglary, theft of property, and evading arrest charges.
He has now been charged in Montgomery County with attempted criminal homicide and theft of property in connection to the carjacking that occurred July 16 on Zinc Plant Rd.
The victim saw Rippie walking on the side of the road and offered him a ride. When the victim stopped at a friend’s house and got out of his vehicle (1995 Ford Explorer), Rippie moved to the driver’s seat. The victim tried to stop him and Rippie hit him three times with the vehicle, ultimately driving over him.
His bond for his charges in Robertson County is $47,000 and his bond for the charges in Montgomery County is $1,010,000.
The 1995 white Ford Explorer has still not been located. Anyone with information on its location or possible accomplices in this crime can contact Investigator Al Maynard at 931-648-0611 ext. 13411.
