NASHVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – A man traveling from Los Angeles to Nashville was arrested Thursday for allegedly trying to smuggle drugs into the area.

According to an arrest affidavit obtained by WKRN News 2, Jose Medina Ayala, 23, allowed authorities to search his bags once he landed in Nashville after authorities obtained information he may be trafficking drugs.

The affidavit said police and DEA agents found 51 vacuum sealed bags of marijuana weighing more than one pound each. All the bags together weighed just under 60 pounds. Ayala also had $2,870 in cash on him.

The report says there was a heavy scent of Febreeze in the bag with the marijuana. Metro drug detection K-9 Boston was able to smell the marijuana and assisted officers in locating the drugs.

Ayala was booked into the Metro jail and charged with felony possession of marijuana. His bond was set at $100,000.
