CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Clarksville Association for Down syndrome (CADS) is kicking off their first major program, Technology for Teachers.
Technology for Teachers is a grant-based initiative to provide special education teachers with touch screen tablet technologies to support the academic and social success of children with Down syndrome and other special needs.
The technology must be used for developmental and educational activities which enhance the applicant’s ability to deliver instruction to students with Down syndrome and other special needs.
Applicants for the grant must indicate how the tool will be used in the classroom including specific applications to achieve classroom goals.
IPads were awarded in May 2013, to Byrns Darden, Cumberland Heights, East Montgomery, Glenellen, Minglewood, Northeast Middle, Northwest High, Rossview High and West Creek Middle schools Special Education classrooms.
Grant award applications will open again in the fall of 2013.
CADS is committed to improving the lives of individuals with Down syndrome and other disabilities through community programs and family connections.
Funding is made possible through activities such as Community Cares Walk & Expo which is an annual fundraising event for CADS. Our 2nd annual Community Cares Walk & Expo is scheduled for October 12, 2013 at Liberty Park & Marina.
