CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW)- A Clarksville woman was killed early Wednesday morning in a crash at the intersection of Peachers Mill Rd. and the 101st Airborne Division Parkway.

The victim was identified as 49-year-old Judy Tapia.

Investigators said a 2007 Toyota Avalon driven by Bradley Vezeau failed to stop for a red light on Peachers Mill Road and crashed into a 1999 Dodge van driven by Christopher Conroy. Tapia, a passenger in the van, was ejected from the vehicle and died from her injuries.

Vezeau, a 27-year-old Clarksville resident, is charged with Vehicular Homicide, 2nd Offense DUI, Violation of the Implied Consent Law, and Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device. His bond was set at $300,000.

“This is Clarksville’s ninth traffic fatality for 2018,” Szczerbiak said. “We had thirteen fatalities in 2017.”

CPD Traffic Unit Sergeant Bret Norfleet also pleaded with the public to refrain from drinking and driving during the upcoming July 4th holiday.
